Your Questions

How do the doctors keep up to date on all of the current techniques and materials?

Both Drs. Scott and Leslie take time each year to attend continuing education. It has been their philosophy, since graduating in 1991, to stay current with the latest techniques and technologies. Dr. Leslie has received advanced training in cosmetic dentistry at the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies, and Dr. Scott has studied dental occlusion at The Center for Advanced Dental Learning in Tacoma, Washington. Their dental team annually attends continuing education in order to better serve you.

Do you accept referrals?

Our patients continue to refer their families, friends and co-workers. We also see many patients interested in sedation dentistry who are referred to us by other dental offices. We promise to give your referrals the same personalized attention that we give to you!

What if I need to cancel an appointment?

All of our appointments are time reserved for you and the doctor or hygienist. Out of respect for our patients, we ask that all cancellations be made 48 hours in advance of the scheduled appointment time. This consideration will allow us to stay on schedule.

What do I do if I have an emergency and the office is closed?

If you experience a dental emergency outside of our regular office hours, please call (619) 280-9100 and follow the instructions to have the doctors paged. Please be sure to leave a message regarding the nature of the emergency and a phone number where you can be reached. The doctors will return your call as soon as possible.

What different payment options do you provide?

We work hard to provide our patients with payment options to suit their individual needs. We accept cash, checks and all major credit cards. We also provide flexible payment plans through Care Credit and the Dental Fee Plan. We will be happy to discuss financial options with you prior to any treatment being performed.

I really don't like visiting the dentist. Is there anything you can do to help me relax?

We pride ourselves on providing dental care to a large population of "dental phobic" patients! We offer a variety of "comfort amenities" to help you get the kind of comfortable care you deserve. At your initial visit, the doctors and team will take the time to find out what your specific needs are and will make recommendations based on your comfort level. To help you relax during your treatment, we can provide you with nitrous oxide or oral sedation.

I want my teeth to look better, but I don't want to wear braces. What would you recommend?

Today there are many options for patients who want to beautify their smiles. Teeth whitening (either "at home" or "in office"), bonding, enameloplasty (reshaping of teeth), porcelain veneers, or straightening with Invisalign can be used to achieve a more beautiful smile. The key to success in aesthetic dentistry is a clear understanding of your desired outcome. Call us today to schedule a free cosmetic consultation.

My gums bleed when I brush and floss. Is this something to be concerned about?

It's important to realize that healthy gums do not bleed with brushing and flossing. Bleeding is typically a sign of gum disease (also known as periodontal disease). Gum disease starts as mild gingival inflammation and can progress to more advanced stages. Most gum disease can be prevented if diagnosed and treated early, however, more advanced stages can often cause irreversible damage. Be sure to have your teeth and gums checked regularly to prevent problems from gum disease.
